About The Area

RETIRED!

After 52 years of guiding and fishing the waters of Southeast Alaska, Malcolm has retired from chartering.

We highly recommend:

Southeastern Alaska does not have perpetual ice and snow, polar bears and dog sled races; rather, it is a milder, maritime region, containing a delightful mixture of rain forest, salt-water bays, fjords and hundreds of islands, mostly overlooked by glaciers and snow covered mountains.

The rainforests are populated by many animals, including bear, wolf, mountain goat and deer. Whales, dolphins, seals and sea lions may be observed in the sea. Overhead, there are many birds, including thousands of bald eagles. On land, we have trout and steelhead in the many lakes and streams. All five species of Pacific salmon and many types of bottom fish, including Halibut, are found in salt water.

Wilderness is the rule, as there are very few roads. Most of the towns are reached only by plane and boat. The economy of the region is supported mainly by fishing, forest products and tourism.

Each year, more and more people are discovering the charm and adventure to be enjoyed in our part of Alaska.
